Chapter 32

"All of those people running after us?"  Olivia asks, looking over her shoulder.

Richie laughs and says, "You're going to learn how to do a rolling go, that's what we call it."

"A what?"

"A rolling go.  The car will pull up alongside the plane and we will jump out, without the car stopping."

"Are you serious?"

Heather jumps in and says, "It's either that or you get mobbed.  We all prefer to get on the plane in one piece."

"That's crazy.  Can't security keep them back?"

The three of them laugh at that, as it was funny.  Jon tells her, "Security is no match for the crazed fan.  Where there is a will, there is a way."

Olivia watches as they get closer to the plane.  She notices that Heather grabs her things and so does Richie.  Not wanting to be a hindrance, she does the same thing.  In her hands she has her purse and her leather jacket, waiting - watching to see what to do.  They pull up along side the plane and Olivia follows their lead.  The four of them literally walk out of the back of the car to the stairs of the waiting plane.  Once they are on board, they're safe because there is a rather large security guard standing at the top of the stairs.

With the band and guests safely on board, they all prepare for take off.  Jon and Olivia chose seats away from everyone, Jon thought they needed more alone time.  In the back of the plane, they are nestled away on the bench seat that surrounds a booth.  "I'm really ready to just go home."  Jon admits to her, as they fasten their seat belts and prepare for the long flight ahead of them.

"It's not too much longer, right?" Olivia asks, unsure of their schedule, not really concerned about it.  She was with him, even if it's for the long haul.  "Only a couple of weeks, right?

Jon nods his head and then rests it on her shoulder, "I just want to get home and see my children."

"When is the last time you seen them?"

He closes his eyes and thinks, "It was three weeks ago.  I caught up with them in Vancouver, they were on vacation with Dorothea."

"How is she?"  Olivia asks Jon, not really concerned with how she is, even though she had no reason to dislike the woman.

"She's okay I guess.  We don't talk much."

"Is she mad at you?" Knowing the answer before she even asks, "Or has she lightened up a little bit?"

"She's still pretty pissed."  Jon admits, resting his head on her shoulder, "And I think she will be for a while."

"How does that make you feel?"

"What are you a shrink?" he asks with a chuckle.

Olivia nudges him with her shoulder, "That's a fair question, Jon."

"I don't like that I shattered her entire world, so yeah, it bothers me a little bit."

"How are the kids?" she knows that she should have asked that first, "How are they dealing with the separation?"

Jon raises his head and looks at her, "It's really not all that different.  I'm gone just as much as ever, so I guess we'll see what happens when I get home."

"What do you mean?"

With a deep and relaxing yawn, stretching he tells her, "I need to find a place to live when I get back."

"Why?"

"She wants to stay in the city and I don't want to go to Jersey."

"Why? You love that house."

"It's too big for just me, and then the kids a few days a week." he tells her, "It's too cold and empty."

"So you're going to let it sit cold and empty?  That's silly, Jon."

The flight to Seattle was long and bumpy.  They were informed that they were going to hit some bad weather, but it was bumpier than they anticipated.  They weren't able to lay down at all.  Everyone needed to remain in their seats with their seat belts fastened.  Even Vicki, the flight attendant remained seated unless the pilot needed her.

After a few hours, they were on the ground trying to get out of the Seattle airport as fast as possible, but when the press and the fans have a head start and know that they are on their way - they come out in the masses.  They crawled through the typical mob that lined the driveway of the executive airport and once they were free.

They were taken to their hotel where they all quickly dispersed and went their own separate ways.  Everyone was tired and even more so, everyone was exhausted.  The flight was a little harder on them than most.  It's the middle of the night in Seattle and the hotel is pretty quiet, except for the handful of fans that figured out that they were staying at a historic hotel, and not the newest modern one.

Security helped them as they passed through the lobby, onto the waiting elevator.  The building is old and the elevator is slow.  "Show tomorrow and Wednesday and then we start working our way home."  Jon tells everyone.

"I can't wait."  pipes up Richie, "I want to get my feet on solid ground and stay there for a while."

"I think we all do."  Dave adds, with a heavy sigh, "But right now, I just want sleep."

They all agreed with David, they all were exhausted and counting the seconds until they could climb into a bed and sleep.

The elevator door opens and they all are greeted by Dorothea and the kids.

"What are you doing here?"  Jon snaps as soon as he sees he standing there with all 4 kids.

Dorothea scan the elevator as they exited and sees Olivia, "What is she doing here?" Referring to Olivia, just standing there with Jon's arm around her shoulder.

The rest of the group mumbles "good night" and left the 6 of them in the hallway, just outside the elevator.  "Why are you here, Dorothea?"  Jon says with a heavy disdain in his voice.

With her hands on her hips and attitude on her face, "I had to come and see if it's really true.  I had to see if you were with her already, we aren't even divorced, Jon."  Her eyes start to tear up.  "We aren't even divorced"

Jon reaches into his pocket and pulls out their room key and hands it to Stephanie, "Take your brothers and go to my room please, we'll be there in a minute."

Stephanie picks up Romeo, "Come on boys, let's go raid the mini fridge.", was something that they all have said at one time or another, with a dad that was always on the road.  Jon watches his daughter take charge and take care of what Dorothea has put on the back burner.

"They should be at home and in bed."  Jon snaps at her again.  "There is no reason for you to be here."

"Well, you and the good doctor are all over the news.  Jesus Jon, you couldn't have waited until the divorce was final?"

"No Dorothea, I couldn't."  Once again, snapping at her.

Olivia feeling about as tall as a grasshopper to a redwood tree politely jumps in, "I'll leave you two so you can talk."  She reaches for her jacket that Jon is holding, he doesn't give it to her.

"You aren't going anywhere, she is.  Dot take the kids and go home."

"Not until we talk." she pouts, "We need to talk, Jon."

"About what?" he's exhausted and never thought that he would be doing what he's doing, right now.  "There is nothing left to talk about, the attorney's can handle it."

"Jon, I'll go to the room so you can talk."  Olivia mouses in, taking a few steps away from them.

Jon reaches up and puts his hand on her shoulder, stopping her in her tracks, "This will only take a minute."

"Let her go!" Dorothea tells him, "This doesn't involve her."

"There is no 'THIS', Dorothea.  Get the kids and go home, I have work to do and they don't need to be here under these circumstances."

"WE have to talk."  she demands, "Before this gets ugly."

Jon has already had enough.  He can see that Olivia is very uncomfortable and that angers him even more.   He was hoping her exposure to Dorothea on this level would happen in a controlled setting.  Not of one of surprise, with the kids.

Frustrated, he runs his fingers through his hair and says without opening his mouth, "Dorothea, go home and go home now - you don't want to see ugly."

"Where the hell did she come from?  Last I knew she was here in the northwest somewhere, how the fuck did she end up in Florida?"

"How did you know she was in Florida?"

"You're all over the goddamn news, Jon Bon Jovi cheating on his wife - haven't you seen the news footage?  Or has your head been so far up her ass?"

That right there was the last straw, Olivia didn't want to listen to it anymore.  "Dorothea, I'm sorry that you had to find out this way, but I'm even more sorry that you had to drag your kids all the way across the country to confront him about something you already know.  Do yourself a favor and get on the next plane east, because I'm here and I'm here to stay."

"You're the little slut that ruined my marriage." Dorothea snorted at her, "You're the home wrecker.  Who are you to judge me?"

Olivia had enough, her patience were tested, and she's never had many to begin with.  She's a very fast paced thinker, mover, do-er and she heard enough.  She was just as tired as Jon and she can imagine that the kids are tired too, so she says what comes to mind, hoping that it will at least end the turmoil for right now.  "I am not a slut.  He paid me for what I gave him."  She reaches for Jon's hand, but he pulls back.  He gives her a look of disbelief and one of anger, but she didn't care,  "So by definition Dorothea, that makes me a whore.  Now get your kids and go home."

"Olivia!"  Jon barks at her, giving her the stink eye.

"You're going to stand here and play this game with her, you go right ahead. However, I am not.  I'm just as exhausted as you are and I have had enough."  Olivia barks back, adding a little bite, "This might be how the rich and famous deal with their bullshit - but if you ask me, in the hallway of a hotel 3000 miles away from home is pretty fucking ridiculous!' And she walks off, leaving Jon to deal with his wife.

When she enters their hotel suite, she sees that the kids had done just what they said, they raided the mini fridge of all the candy, snacks and soda.  The wrappers on the bed made her laugh, as it made her think of Halloween when she was a child.  Going through her candy when she was done trick or treating.  "Is there any left for me?" she startles the kids when she asks.

Jesse answers first, with his head propped up on a pillow, not taking his eyes off of the TV, "Yeah, all of the gross stuff is still in there."

"Thanks Jess."  Olivia replies, dropping her purse and jacket on the chair.

Stephanie, fearing no one and always one to speak her mind asks, "Doc, what are you doing here?"

Olivia spins on her heel, "What do you mean?"

"Why are you with our dad?" she says, standing to walk toward her, "How long have you been sleeping with our dad?"  Stephanie look over to Jesse, hoping for some back up.

Olivia doesn't know what to say, but she can feel her heart race and she's getting a little sweaty.  "We should wait for your dad, Stephanie."

"You were our doctor, how can you be with our dad?"  The young woman is getting a little louder, causing Jake and Romeo to get louder, thinking that it might be play time.  "Jake, Romeo hush.  We're trying to talk."

"Stephanie, let's wait for your dad, he shouldn't be too much longer."  Olivia tells her, "This is a conversation that you need to have with him."

"Are you WITH my dad?" the teenager fires right back.  "Are you sleeping with my dad."  Olivia can see that the young mind in in distress and that she's curious, but she doesn't see that she's upset.

'Let's wait for your dad."
