Chapter 31

She never wanted the star's life, but she did want the 'star' and she knows that if she has one, she has to take the other.

"Ok, why the big bald guy?  Can't we find someone that blends a little better?  He's a scary dude and he attracts attention."

"You need someone intimidating."

"But does he have to scare me too?"  Olivia teases.  "I'm afraid to look at him."

"Then he's doing his job."  Jon pats her leg as he stands, "He is doing what he gets the big bucks for."

Olivia stands up after Jon and jumps on his back.  During the piggy back ride to the bathroom she asks him, "Does Dorothea have security?"

"She used too."

"Used to?  What do you mean?"

He sets her down before he reaches in the shower and turns the water on, "She used to fight with them, all of the time.  She thought that she was boss and in reality - she wasn't.  They worked for me and did the detail that I gave them, they didn't listen to her."

"So...." Olivia raises an eyebrow, "What happened?"

With a slight chuckle Jon tells her, "Well, she thought that she was slick one day when we were in Paris.  There were a ton of fans in front of the hotel that we were staying in, and she wanted to go shopping, but didn't want a bodyguard.  She slipped out a side door but her body guard seen her.  He did his job an kept her safe, but when she got back to the hotel she got into a verbal altercation with him and fired the entire security staff."

"Really?"  Olivia asks, a little surprised by that information.

"Yep.  It was a local company, I had like 20 people working and she fired them all."

"No shit."

"I thought I could smooth it all over and keep the firm on, but the owner wasn't putting up with my American wife and her attitude.  So, just before a show, I had to find all new security. And from that point on, she has dealt with her own.  If she has the kids, she uses my guys.  But when she's alone, she usually goes alone."

"Has anything happened to her, without security?"

Jon takes Olivia's hand and pulls her close.  As soon as she's close enough, he starts to undress her.  First her blouse, "Yeah, she was mobbed a couple of times."  Then he reaches behind her and with one snap, he unfastens her bra.

"Was she hurt?" Olivia is amazed by the blatant disregard that Dorothea showed for her own safety.

Jon nods his head, "Do we really want to talk about Dorothea?"  His hands slide around her waist, searching for her zipper.  Once he finds it, he slides it down with grace and in just seconds her skirt and thong are around her feet, "I can think of a million things I would rather talk about."

Olivia can't stand it, she is in such love with this guy - the impulse to grab his face and kiss him was just too much. So she did.  His face in her hands, she pulls him to her, she pulls him close and locks lips with him, mumbling, "I think we need to stop talking."

They took their shower and when they were all packed and ready, they met the rest of the group in the private hotel lobby.  An area away from the public, but close enough to the door and the awaiting vehicles for when they all would gather.

It's a quiet bunch, after a grueling show and a long day.  All any of them wanted was to lay down and go to sleep, but they all reminded themselves that at the end of this plane trip there would be a bed waiting with their names on them.  One by one, they piles into vans, handing whatever bags they wanted to the drivers.  Jon, Olivia, Heather and Richie are in the first van with the rest of the band and essential crew in the second van.

The trip to the airport is short.  Upon arriving and pulling out onto the tarmac, they are greeted by fans, lining both sides of the entry gate.  Some have signs and many are screaming.  Olivia is seeing first hand, up close and personal, the affect that this band has on women.  "Is it always like this?" Olivia asks, looking at Heather.

Heather gives her a disgusted look and smirks, "Yeah, we can never go anywhere."

Olivia laughs, "This is crazy!"  As she winces at each hand that hits the car and each squeal that she hears, "How crazy is this?"  She amazed.

"You've never seen this end have you?"  Richie asks her, "The end that shows their true colors and reminds them that we are human too?"

"What do you mean?  I have never seen this craziness."

"That's right, you were always ushered in, in secret and out the same way."

Olivia nods, not really needing the reminder that she was a dirty little secret.  "Yeah, I was in and out.  Totally under the radar."

"Do you miss that?" Jon asks her as he pulls her close.  The turtle pace through the fans didn't stop him from giving Olivia the affection that he wanted too and that she needed.  "Do you wish we were stealthing right now?"

"NO!  This is mind blowing.  I've seen stuff like this on TV and I've treated trampled fans, but to be in the middle - wow."

Heather taps Olivia with her foot, "Wait until we get out of the car."

"Why?"  A little naivety showing, "What happens then?"  Olivia asks, looking to Jon.

Richie laughs and boasts, "Can you run?"

Slowly, she responds with "yeahhhhhhh, why?"

Jon jumps in, laughing, "Okay you two, that's enough."  He smiles at Olivia, "The trip from the van to the plane can be tricky, if it's not planned right."

"How so?" she asks.

Jon points over his shoulder, directing Olivia's attention to the back of the van, "See that?"
